Hi there whisky lovers in Belgium. My name is René Ramon, a Fleming who lives in Dufftown, Whisky capital of the World. Altough I can still speak Flemish, my wordings in Ducth is very poor.
I left Flanders in 1972 after a downturn in the economy and settled west of Johannesburg, RSA for 16 years. During all the troubles in the 80's I emigrated to NW England where I lived near Blackpool, working as a water engineer at UUplc.
In 2003 I went on voluntary company pension and moved to Dufftown where I have a B&B.
I instrumental in the organising of the Speyside Spring Whisky Festivals in May and the Dufftown Autumn Whisky Festivals end of September. During the summer months our small charity company organises Nosings & Tastings (Master-classes) every Tuesday evenings, and in addition to all this we organise Hogmanay (old years eve celebrations) with fireworks and free drams on the Square in Dufftown.
Every other year I visit my favourite island Islay where I enjoy a whole day at my favourite distillery Ardbeg.
Now that I have introduced myself I hope to receive loads of contacts regarding tours & whiskies.
